MMA’s most sought after free agent is off the market. Sage Northcutt has signed with ONE Championship and Chatri Sityodtong took to Facebook to break the news this morning.

Earlier this week the UFC announced that it had been unable to come to terms with Northcutt on a new contract. The welterweight was in attendance at ONE: ‘Heart of the Lion’ in Singapore last month and it seems he might have signed a contract with the promotion during this trip.

Northcutt (11-2) is currently riding a three fight winning streak and tasted victory in six out of his eight UFC appearances. He has previously competed as a lightweight although ONE officials have said they expect the 22 year old to continue plying his trade in the welterweight division.

The welterweight title was recently won by Zebaztian Kadestam while earlier this week ONE Championship announced the signing of Yoshihiro Akiyama. Northcutt won’t have to wait too long to make his promotional debut, he is set to fight at ONE: ‘Call to Greatness’ in Singapore on February 22nd.

Northcutt is one of several former UFC fighters have put pen to paper on ONE Championship deals in recent weeks. Former champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez will both be competing for the promotion in 2019 and there are 25 shows currently on the calendar including next week’s ONE: ‘Destiny of Champions’.
