Sung Bin Jo to compete in PFL 2021 season
The PFL has announced the full roster for its 2021 season and Sung Bin Jo will be competing in the featherweight division. The Korean is coming off an unsuccessful stint with the UFC.
Last year it was widely reported that Jo has signed with the PFL. But the promotion did not make it official until today, releasing the name of eight featherweights who would compete in the 2021 season.
Jo (9-1) earned his UFC contract on the back of a nine fight winning streak with nine finishes. He won featherweight titles with ACF, Wardog and TFC.
Jo made his debut at UFC on ESPN+ 11 in Stockholm last year but the Korean failed to impress. He dropped a decision to hometown favorite Daniel Teymur in Sweden and was subsequently released.
The other seven featherweight to compete in 2021 will be Tyler Diamond, Bubba Jenkins, Movlid Khaybulaev, Brendan Loughnane, Sheymon Moraes, Lance Palmer and Jason Soares.
The 2021 PFL Season will begin on April 23rd. The remaining events will take place on April 29th, May 6th, June 10th, June 17th, and June 25th.
The PFL did not put on a single fight card in 2020. But the seasonal format means fighters face off multiple times during the course of a single year so Jo looks set to be busy over the course of the next 11 months.
