Angela Lee was set to move up in weight to challenge Xiong Jing Nan for the ONE Championship strawweight title on Friday in one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of the year. Unfortunately that match will no longer be happening with Chatri Sityodtong breaking the disappointing news on Facebook today:
The 22 year old suffered a herniated disc in training last week, and doctors suspect it was originally caused by a car accident last year. That means the ONE: ‘Heart of the Lion’ card will now be headlined by the bantamweight title unification match between regular champion Bibiano Fernandes and interim champion Kevin Belingon.
The show at the Singapore Indoor Stadium also has a new main event with Christian Lee (9-3) effectively taking his sister’s slot on the card. He faces Japanese veteran Kazuke Tokudome (18-9-1) in a fight between two featherweights looking to get back to winning ways after consecutive defeats.
