Fans had been hoping an atomweight title fight between Angela Lee and Seo Hee Ham might find its way onto the ONE 161 card. But the current champion is clearly not in training as she is travelling all over the world with her young family.

Last month Lee was in Brazil and this month she has flown to South Korea to celebrate her birthday:

Big star

Lee’s mother is from Korea while her father is Singaporean. She has become a big star in the latter country but not much has been made of her connection to the former.

She has fought in Singapore six times and travelled there numerous times along with either her husband, brother or sister who are all fighters on the ONE Championship roster. But Korea already has plenty of mixed martial artists so it might be more difficult for her to establish herself as a fan favourite there.

But this doesn’t appear to be a work trip. Lee, who turned 26 last week, looks like she is on holiday and appears to have ended up celebrating her birthday in an aeroplane.

Early start

Earlier this year she made a triumphant return less than a year after giving birth to her first daughter. Lee submitted Stamp Fairtex in the second round at ONE: ‘X’ and remains the only fighter to ever hold the atomweight title.

She has been on the ONE Championship roster since 2015. She was just 18 when she made her promotional debut and is a veteran of 13 fights for the promotion, more than any other female fighter.

Her trip to Brazil didn’t exactly go according to plan. The airline ended up changing their route and losing the family’s bags and Lee shared the entire experience on Instagram:

Family time

Having visited Brazil to see her husband’s family and Korea to see her mother’s family there can’t have been much time for Lee to train recently. Next up for her looks certain to be an atomweight title fight with Seo Hee Ham.

It could well be the toughest test of the 26 year old’s career. Ham established herself as the best super atomweight in the world with Rizin beating the likes of Ayaka Hamasaki and Miyuu Yamamoto.

She also held the Road FC atomweight title and beat opponents like Jinh Yu Frey and Mina Kurobe during her successful stint with the Korean promotion. She is on an eight fight winning streak and could be the best opponent Lee has ever faced.

Fans will be anxiously awaiting news about that matchup. But for the time being it is family time for Lee and when your husband is from Brazil, your father is from Singapore and your mother is from Korea that clearly means a lot of travelling!
