Friday Masabo disrespected Batgerel Danaa at the Karate Combat 43 weigh ins. He grabbed the UFC veteran’s Mongolian flag and tried to strangle him with his own black belt.
In Las Vegas on Saturday night Batgerel had his revenge. He finished the Cuban with a flying knee at the start of the second round and made sure to land a few follow up punches on his unconscious opponent.
While Batgeral is known for his exploits in the octagon Masabo has a background in both boxing and MMA. The UFC veteran holds a karate black belt so this was a natural move for him.
In the opening round Batgerel landed several low kicks while Masabo countered with his hands, as you would expect a fighter who has been schooled in the art of boxing by coaches in Cuba to do. At the start of the second round he knocked the Mongolian down.
Bategerel looked badly hurt but he survived and saw out the round. The third would play out very differently, although it lasted just 28 seconds.
Batgerel came out and threw a flying knee which knocked Masabo out cold. It was the perfect start to the Mongolian’s post UFC career and he clearly has a future with Karate Combat.

Shahzaib Khan needed even less time to finish Federico Avella. A left high kick at the start of the second round saw the Pakistani secure his third win in a row on a Karate Combat card.
In the main event former UFC rivals Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson locked horns again. This time it was the former who emerged victorious with a unanimous decision win.
