Ben Tynan is not just an undefeated heavyweight contender. The Canadian is also a Pokémon master apparently, who claims to have a collection of 150.

While we can’t verify this claim he clearly has a tattoo of Charizard on his left forearm. For the uninitiated that is a  is a large dragon-like Pokémon which is mainly orange in color.

Impressive debut

While Tynan is clearly proud of his Pokémon collection he must also be pleased with how his ONE Championship debut went. He submitted feared Korean striker Kang Ji Won on the third round and earned a $50,000 USD bonus for his efforts.

That win took Tynan’s record to 5-0. It could also put him in pole position for a shot at Anatoly Malykhin, Amir Aliakbari has been vocal about wanting to rematch the champion but he didn’t make it out of the opening round against Kang.

Tynan is clearly a bit of a character. He comes across as a bit of an alpha male type on Instagram where he can be found chopping wood and getting paid to promote brands which are looking to compete with Viagra.

Geeky side

As well as being the type of figure who might inspire men to start buying impotence tablets he also clearly has a geeky side to him.

Tynan is not the only fighter with a Pokémon collection. Social media star turned boxer Logan Paul is really serious about collecting the paying cards.

He once paid $5.275 million for a rare Pokémon card earning him a place in the Guinness Book of Records.

English speaker

There aren’t too many heavyweights on the ONE Championship roster who speak English as a first language. Reigning champion Malykhin clearly has a sense of humour but his jokes are mostly in Russian.

Tynan could be a big hit with fans in Asia as the fun loving Canadian clearly loves a joke. He is also really serious about his Pokémon collection and looks set to be a ONE Championship star for many years to come.
