This month’s fight between Wu Yanan and Bethe Correia is off according to MMA Fighting. The two were set to finally face off at UFC Fight Island 7 on January 16th.

The bantamweight bout was originally booked for UFC Vegas 16 on December 5th. Correira was forced to pull out of the rescheduled fight because she needs to have her appendix removed.

Yanan (11-3) signed for the UFC in 2017 but has only fought three times after seeing multiple bouts fall through due to injuries to either her or her opponent. Her record in the octagon stands at 1-2 and it remains to be seen whether a replacement opponent for Correira can be found at such short notice.

UFC Fight Island 7 is set for Yas Island on January 16th. It will also feature a welterweight bout between Santiago Ponzinibbio and China’s Li Jingliang.

The event will be headlined by a featherweight fight between #1 ranked Max Holloway (21-6) and #6 ranked Calvin Kattar (22-4). It will be the promotion’s first event of 2021 and the seventh to be held on Yas Island since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
