Former lightweight champion Kotetsu Boku will be back in action at ONE: ‘Eternal Glory’. The 41 year old faces off against BJJ black belt Bruno Pucci at Istora Senayan on January 19th.
Boku (26-12-2) became the promotion’s first ever lightweight champion when he stopped Zorobabel Moreira in 2012. He is currently campaigning at featherweight but has not fought at all this year after suffering a devastating stoppage loss to Christian Lee in 2017.
These days Pucci (6-3) is better known as being Angela Lee’s husband. But the Brazilian has been competing for ONE Championship since 2013 and tends to either win by submission or get knocked out: in nine fights he has never been the distance.
Pucci is 13 years younger than Boku and this represents a relatively quick turnaround for the Brazilian who won by submission last month. Coincidentally that matchup also took place in Jakarta, and both men have fought twice in the city.
As previously announced ONE: ‘Eternal Glory’ will be headlined by a strawweight title rematch between champion Joshua Pacio and challenger Hayato Suzuki. The event will also feature the likes of Masakazu Imanari and Koji Ando.
ONE: ‘Eternal Glory’ is the first of 24 events on the ONE Championship schedule for 2019.
