Dana White spoke to the media at length today and was asked about Manny Pacquiao. He said the Filipino would have boxed Conor McGregor had the latter not lost to Dustin Poirier.

McGregor famously boxed Floyd Mayweather and White confirmed a fight with Pacquiao was very much in the works,

“I know they were talking about it, they wanted to do it. Obviously there were a lot of things that needed to happen for that fight to happen and they didn’t so it didn’t.”

With Pacquiao announcing his retirement last month this will go down as one that got away. But White had nothing but praise for the eight division world champion and presidential candidate,

“I’m a huge fan, always been a huge fan. I love the guy, personally and professionally, he was so fun to watch and accomplished incredible things. He also looks like a guy that’s going to have an amazing political career. Couldn’t happen to a better human being.”

There are quite a few things that White doesn’t like. He declared that he is not a fan of bare knuckle boxing and doesn’t see the point of exhibition fights but the UFC president loves Pacquiao!
