Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu extended his winning streak to seven at ONE Friday Fights 17 last night. The Mongolian stopped Rockie Bactol in the final second of the first round of their bantamweight fight.
The Mongolian landed a spinning back kick to the body at the start of the round. He was switching stance and easily stuffed a takedown attempt from the Bangkok based Bactol.
They clinched against the ropes and it was Baatarkhuu who eventually secured the takedown, briefly dumping Bactol on his back and landing some knees to the head. The Filipino was trapped and continued to eat knees with one of them opening a cut on his head.
Both fighters stayed on the inside and traded punches to the body. But Bactol had no answer for the knees which were coming from Baatarkhuu who switched strategy and landed a series of uppercuts.
With 15 seconds remaining in the fight he took Bactol down and unloaded with punches and elbows. The Filipino was just covering up and the referee stepped in to save him at the 4:59 mark.
With the win Baatarkhuu improves to 9-2 and he also earned a $10,000 USD bonus, one of nine handed out on the night. Bactol drops to 5-3.
