Rizin veteran Gabi Garcia has made some disturbing allegations against her husband. The Brazilian accuses Bruno Almeida of physically abusing her and threatening her and her family members.

Garcia, who fought six times for Rizin, made the accusations in an Instagram video. She wants to inspire other victims of domestic violence to come forwards and believes that if it can happen to her it can happen to anyone.

Garcia, who weights over 200lbs and holds a BJK black belt, wrote that,

Women who suffer abuse and are afraid should look at this giant here, champion of everything!

Perfect record

Garcia has a perfect professional MMA record standing at 6-0 with all her fights having taken place inside the Rizin ring. But she has not competed in the sport since 2014.

Garcia was scheduled to fight at Rizin’s New Year’s Eve event in 2017. She was booked to face 53 year old Shinobu Kandori but the contest was cancelled when the Brazilian missed weight by 24lbs.

She still competes regularly in BJJ but it sound like Garcia has had a very traumatic experience with her husband. She accuses Almeida of using her credit cards, threatening her parents and stealing her jewelry.

More seriously Garcia shared some photos on Instagram of her with a bloody nose which she says was inflicted by Almeida. She has not competed in BJJ for the last nine months and it appears that the domestic abuse has taken its toll on the 37 year old’s career.

Supportive messages

Garcia, who has over 500,000 Instagram followers, has been inundated with supportive messages since sharing the posts. It sounds like she already has a restraining order out on her husband and is pursuing further legal action.

It sounds like there are more revelations to come with the Rizin veteran promising that,

I’ll tell my fans every single detail so I can help women who have been abused.

It was clearly difficult for Garcia to come forwards with this story and we we hope that she gets all the support she needs.
