ARC 3 took place in Seoul tonight. The main event was a changing of the guard as up and coming prospect Oh Il Hak stopped the experienced Eun Soo Kim in a catchweight contest set at 214lbs.
Kim wasted no time, charging forward recklessly right from the start and paid a heavy price. A counter right hook by Oh connected perfectly on the chin and sent him down inside the first ten seconds of the fight.
A few more hammerfists finished the job as Oh picked up the first knockout of his career, moving his record to 3-0. Kim is finished for the fourth straight time and drops to 7-7.
Top prospects
Two of the top prospects for ARC, Si Won Park and Yu Jin Shin, had to overcome some adversity in order to keep their undefeated records intact. The former was facing Chan Soo Park in a catchweight contest set at 159lbs.
Utilizing the jab on a consistent basis the undefeated prospect was able to bloody up his unheralded opponent’s face early on. Counter hooks and a speedy front kick additionally landed throughout the first round.
Just when it looked like a fifth straight win was guaranteed his opponent came back strongly in the second round, applying more pressure. The prospect looked fatigued and an upset appeared to be on the cards.
The third frame was close with Park trying to keep his perfect professional record intact by maintaining distance and picking his shots. Ultimately it was enough for the undefeated Stun Gun disciple to take a unanimous decision win and move up to 5-0 while his opponent drops to 3-2.
Toughest test
Meanwhile Shin had to withstand the toughest test of her young career to earn a split decision win over debutant You Jeong Kim in their strawweight fight. She was taken down multiple times by the newcomer but stayed active off her back attempting submissions and nearly finishing the fight with a triangle choke at the end of the first.
When the bell rang to start the third, the fight was fairly even but that is where Shin took over with her wrestling and displayed some fight IQ. She completed three takedowns and scored with punches in the time allotted for ground fighting under the ARC rules.
it was enough to secure a split decision win that takes Shin’s record to 3-0. Her opponent drops to 0-1 after narrowly falling short on her debut.

Other highlights from earlier in the night had Ji Yong Yang (2-0) executing a left straight following up with a barrage to collapse Min Hyung Han (1-1) in their catchweight contest. Meanwhile Young Min Ji (3-2) pounded down punches from top to render Dong Hyeok Ko (0-8) unconscious in their featherweight fight.
