Ji Yong Yang has been very active in 2023 and he finished the year on a high. The Korean bantamweight finished Jae Sung Park in just eight seconds at Road FC 67.
The event took place at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul and featured the finals of the Fighter 100 tournament. The results of this do not appear on the participant’s official records.
Yang was facing Park in a regular MMA fight, which took place at 139lbs. This seems to be Road FC’s new bantamweight limit as Soo Chul Kim recently won a tournament in the same division.
A left head kick from Yang at the start of the fight seemed to catch Park off guard. From there the 27 year old displayed a ruthless streak, attacking relentlessly with punches until the referee stepped in at the 0:08 mark.
With the win Yang improves to 10-1 and looks to be in pole position for a shot at newly crowned bantamweight champion Kim. Park drops to 4-5.
In the other big MMA fight on the card Jung Hyun Lee scored a very impressive KO in his flyweight fight with Kil Soo Lee. The first round started very slowly but would finish with a bang.
There was a lengthy feeling out process with neither man willing to commit to any combinations. Towards the end of the round they clinched against the cage and Jung landed a left head kick from close quarters on the break which knocked Kil out.
It was a spectacular end to what had, up until that point, been an uneventful fight. With the win Jung improves to 10-1 while Kil drops to 1-2.

Best of the rest
San Kim (4-2) got the better of Dong Guk Shin (5-6) in a flyweight fight which went the distance. Bantamweight Dong Hyuk Ko (3-9) submitted Sergei Choi (3-2) with a third round rear naked choke to prove that he is a much better fighter than his record suggests.
