Jihin Radzuan showcased her submission skills at Lumpinee Stadium tonight. The Malaysian submitted Jenelyyn Olsim in the third round of their catchweight contest at ONE Friday Fights 35.
It was the only MMA fight on the card and Olsim sprang a surprise when she took Radzuan down in the opening round, although it looked as if the Malaysian might have actually elected to simply sit down. The Malaysian eventually worked her way up and a lengthy clinch ensued.
With two minutes remaining in the round Radzuan did get Olsim down and she immediately took the back. She looked for an armbar and transitioned to a reverse triangle but by the time the rounds finished the two fighters were in a more neutral position.
The two traded inside leg kicks at the start of the second round before the Malaysian southpaw drove her opponent back with a series of left hands. She took Olsim down but the referee separated them and deducted a point from the Filipina who had tried to grab the ropes.
The stoppage didn’t do Radzuan any favours as she lost her position. But the Malaysian landed more left hands and then found herself in top position again following an attempt at a throw.

Top contender
She moved into mount, took Olsim’s back and was landing ground and pound as the round ended. Things didn’t get any better for the Filipina in the third as she was taken down.
Radzuan was in half guard but they rolled under the ropes and the referee reset the action in the middle of the ring. He did the Malaysian a favour by putting her in side control and from there she quickly locked in a triangle armbar.
The tap came at the 1:34 mark. Olsim drops to 6-5 and although she will be unhappy about the restart Radzuan was clearly dominating the fight.
Radzuan improves to 9-3. It isn’t clear why this fight was at a catchweight but she remains a top contender in the atomweight division and has registered her first victory since relocating to Fairtex to train with former opponent Stamp Fairtex.
