It sounds like Jonathan Haggerty knows who he will be fighting next. Unfortunately the Englishman isn’t telling but he is already looking for sponsors ahead of his next bout.

Haggerty shocked the world by beating Nong-O Gaiyanghadao at ONE Fight Night 9. He came into that contest at Lumpinee Stadium as the underdog but finished the Thai veteran in the opening round.

It sounds like Haggerty hasn’t had to wait too long to find out who he will be fighting next. He took to Instagram to announce that he had a,

Massive title defence coming up!

Two divisions

Haggerty picked up two performance bonuses for beating Nong-O amounting to $100,000 USD. In the aftermath he headed off to Koh Samui to celebrate with his girlfriend.

It isn’t clear whether Haggerty decided to stay in Thailand or head back to the UK. But it sounds like he has already started preparing for his next fight.

Haggerty became the first fighter to win Muay Thai or kickboxing titles in two divisions with ONE Championship when he beat Nong-O. He had previously held the promotion’s flyweight title in the latter sport.

All English

Liam Harrison, who is coming off a first round loss to Nong-O, has already made it clear that he wants to fight Haggerty in an all English title match. But he underwent knee surgery last year and doesn’t appear to be ready to compete again just yet.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon also appeared to be keen to move up to bantamweight in order to face Haggerty in a trilogy fight. He has already beaten the Englishman twice in flyweight title fights.

But Rodtang is penciled in to be Takeru’s debut opponent. The Japanese star recently signed with ONE Championship and Chatri Sityodtong has made it clear he hopes to match the two men together in Tokyo.

Felipe Lobo is coming off a third round win over Saemapetch Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 9. The Brazilian looks like the most obvious contender for Haggerty’s crown, assuming Nong-O isn’t handed an immediate rematch.

Haggerty already knows who his next opponent will be. He just isn’t telling!
