Such has been Jonathan Haggerty’s recent dominance that few opponents have managed to cause him any problems, let alone beat him. Felipe Lobo definitely succeeded in doing the former and looked close to achieving the latter.

Haggerty looked in control at the start of the fight at ONE Fight Night 19 without doing any real damage. Towards the end of the round Lobo started to take the battle to the Englishman and threw punch after punch.

Lobo was targeting his opponent’s body and head. Haggerty was briefly trapped in the corner only to circle out and escape, but the Brazilian pursued him across the ring.

On the ropes

With Haggerty against the ropes Lobo landed a right hand which caused the Englishman to simply sit down. He took a count and would have been grateful to hear the bell.

Haggerty came back strongly in the second round and dropped Lobo with a left hook. The Brazilian beat the count and looked to attack with punches again but this time the Englishman stood his ground and fired back as the round came to an end.

It left the fight perfectly poised heading into the third but Haggerty was able to land the decisive blow. A right hand dropped Lobo and he got back up but was on very wobbly legs.

The referee called it off with the finish coming at 0:45. Haggerty successfully defended his bantamweight Muay Thai title and earned himself a $50,0000 USD bonus in the process.

Served cold

They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Saemapetch Fairtex got his but the Thai looked like he was on fire right from the opening bell in his bantamweight rematch with Mohamed Younes Rabah.

Rabah won the first fight with  a kick that looked like it could have been considered illegal. There was no controversy this time around as Saemapetch knocked him down three times in the space of 93 seconds, picking up a $50,000 USD bonus of his own.
