Kate Oyama will be back in action ad Deep-Jewels 40. The bodybuilder turned mixed martial artist will be looking to score her second straight win when she takes on Hikaru Aono in a super atomweight fight.

Oyama (3-4) is one of the most popular fighters on the Deep-Jewels roster but this has led to some cynicism among fans and her fellow fighters. They feel that the 24 year old does not have the talent to match her looks.

She takes on Hikaru Aono (8-6) who might be coming off back to back losses but has a big advantage in terms of experience. She is a veteran of 14 Deep-Jewels fights.

Best of the rest

The event looks set to be headlined by a strawweight fight pitting Namiko Kawabata (4-1) against Machi Fukuda (1-0). The latter is coming off a win over a much more experienced opponent on her pro MMA debut at Deep-Jewels 39 last month.

Kawabata’s only career loss came at the hands of Miki Motono at Deep-Jewels 35. She also holds a win over Oyama and will be moving back to strawweight after fighting at 108lbs last time out.

Elsewhere on the card Momoko Yamazaki (3-3) has been matched with Akari Kamise in a microweight bout. Both have amateur experience but the latter will be making her pro debut.

In the strawweight division Eru Takebayashi (2-3) will be looking to snap her three fight losing skid. She dropped a split decision to Oyama at Deep-Jewels 38 last time out and faces Hitomi Taniyama here.
