Kongsuk Fairtex can reflect on a good evening’s work at ONE Friday Fights 53. He returned to winning ways with a decision victory over Phetsukumvit Boybangna at Lumpinee Stadium and was rewarded with a $50,000 USD bonus.
Kongsuk came into this fight on the back of two losses at these events. Phetsukumvit found himself in a similar situation but it was the former who walked away with the decision victory and the bonus.
Kongsuk is a southpaw and immediately looked to establish huis left body kick. beats Phetsukumvit was looking to close the distance and throw punches with neither man able to establish a clear advantage in the opening round.

Trading knockdowns
Phetsukumvit made an aggressive stance to the second round, applying constant pressure and throwing hard punches to the body before tying his opponent up in the clinch. Kongsuk was able to slow the onslaught by sweeping him multiple times.
They traded punches and elbows at the end of the round with beats Phetsukumvit attacking with knees, Kongsuk taking a standing eight count right on the bell. It left him behind on the scorecards heading into the final three minutes.
It looked a long way back for Kongsuk and his opponent targeted the body with punches at the start of the third. Both men went toe to toe in the corner and this time it was beats Phetsukumvit who found himself on the canvass with a left hook doing the damage.
With a minute remaining Kongsuk started to land elbows and a left hand caught a backtracking Phetsukumvit and dropped him for the second time. The two knockdowns left him in a commanding position and all three judges scored the fight in his favour.

Best of the rest
There were two MMA fights on the card and they both had Russian winners. Nachin Sat (5-2) submitted Tural Askarov (4-2) with a first round triangle choke in their featherweight fight.
In the flyweight division Chayan Oorzhak (8-2) claimed a unanimous decision win over Babar Ali (7-3).
