Two highly experienced fighters faced off in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 52. Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai and Julio Lobo have both won titles on the stadium scene in Thailand and they went head to head at Lumpinee Stadium tonight.
This was a catchweight contest set at 144lbs and Kulabdam didn’t need long to finish the Brazilian. The taller Lobo looked to use his range at the start of the fight and walked forwards throwing jabs and elbows.
He walked right into a devastating left hand with Kulabdam dropping him for the first time. Lobo beat the count but was quickly reacquainted with the canvas when the Thai caught him with another left.

Three in a row
To his credit Lobo kept walking forwards after the first knockdown looking to overwhelm Kulabdam. Having put him down twice the Thai seized the initiative and started to unload with heavy punches.
Lobo was trapped in the corner but looked to fire back with elbows. He was on his feet and throwing strikes but the referee decided the Brazilian had taken enough punishment and waved off the contest at the 2:47 mark.
Afterwards Kulabdam was awarded a 350,000 baht bonus, one of eight fights to receive this award. He has now won three in a row on these shows with a first round stoppage and has surely earned the opportunity to fight one some bigger ONE Championship cards.

Trading knockdowns
Earlier in the evening Shadow Singha Mawyn faced Mamuka Usubyan in a featherweight Muay Thai fight which produced plenty of action. The Thai was knocked down in the first and second rounds.
It left Usubyan with a potentially unassailable lead. That didn’t stop Shadow from going all out to try and score a knockdown of his own, subjecting the Russian to relentless punishment for the remainder of the fight.
With seconds remaining in the final round Shadow finally for his knockdown. By that stage it was too late and Usubyan took the decision win over the former Rajadamnern welterweight champion.
