Kyung Ho Kang has been the distance in his last four fights. But at UFC on ESPN 47 this morning the Korean showcased a more ruthless streak to finish Cristian Quiñonez with a rear naked choke in the opening round.

Kang looked to land low kicks at the start of the opening round. Quiñonez was starting to find a home for his jab and followed through with a sharp right hook.

The warning signs were there for Kang who didn’t heed them and found himself wobbled by a huge right hand from the Mexican. The Korean was backed up against the cage but fired back with a volley of punches which stopped the onrushing Quiñonez in his tracks.

Long serving

Quiñonez briefly lost his footing and Kang immediately looked to lock in a rear naked choke before even taking the back. The Mexican span away and survived but found himself on the bottom with the Korean in mount.

With Kang looking to land ground and pound Quiñonez was able to turn but gave up his back in the process. As the Mexican looked to stand up he locked in a rear naked choke with the tap coming at the 2:25 mark.

With the win Kang, who made his UFC debut in 2013, improves to 19-9-0-1 and makes it back to back victories inside the octagon. Quiñonez drops to 18-4 and sees his five fight winning streak snapped.
