Chinese lightweight Maheshate has been handed what could be a final chance to save his UFC career. He will be taking on Gabriel Benitez in Las Vegas on April 27th.
The fight is part of the UFC Fight Night 243 card. Maheshate was originally rumoured to be facing Anshul Jubli on this card but that fight appears to have fallen through.
Instead Maheshate (9-3) finds himself matched with Benitez (23-11). After losing his two most recent UFC fights the Chinese fighter needs to win if he wants to prolong his stay on the roster.
Maheshate knocked out Steve Garcia in the opening round at UFC 275 and picked up a $50,000 USD pay cheque for this performance. But he has lost his last two.
Benitez has been on the roster since 2014 without ever threatening to crack the top 15. With one win from his last three fights this looks like a make or break bout for the Mexican too.
PERFECT RIGHT HAND PUT HIM OUT 😱
