Super Rizin 3 is set for July 28th and it will be headlined by an all Japanese featherweight fight. Mikuru Asakura is set to face Ren Hiramoto at the Saitama Super Arena.

Super Rizin 1 was headlined by Floyd Mayweather, who beat Asakura in a boxing match. The third installment of the series looks set to have more of a local feel but is still expected to break box office records.

Asakura (17-4-0-1) has challenged for the featherweight title twice, coming short on both occasions. At Super Rizin 2 last July he was submitted by current champion Vugar Keramov in the opening round.

Trash talker

With over 3.3 million subscribers to his YouTube channel Askura’s popularity extends well beyond the world of mixed martial arts. He is going up against an opponent whose reputation far exceeds his accomplishments in the sport.

Hiramoto (3-3) is a former K-1 title challenger who made his MMA debut in 2019. He has won three out of his six fights and is coming off a win over Ya-Man at Rizin 45.

Ya-Man knocked Asakura out in a kickboxing fight last November. Hiramoto has a reputation for trash talking his opponents and the build up to this fight should be interesting.
