Nasrat Haqparast registered the most impressive victory of his UFC career last weekend. He finished Jamie Mullarkey in the opening round and picked u a $50,000 USD performance bonus.

Haqparast was born in Germany but both his parents are Afghan and he chooses to represent Afghanistan when he fights. It was a totally different country on his mind in the aftermath of UFC Vegas 83.

He dedicated his victory to the people of Palestine,

“I dedicate this victory to our suffering brothers and sisters in Palestine.”

New location

It was Haqparast’s first stoppage win since 2019. He had originally been scheduled to face Mullarkey at UFC 284 in Australia but that bout was postponed and ended up taking place in Las Vegas instead.

It had originally been booked for Shanghai but the location and schedule changes did not bother Haqparast. Afterwards he said that,

“I love the violence. I just come in I love to perform to my best, that’s my goal.”

Currently unranked

Haqparast is currently unranked but another win should see him crack the top 15 for the first time. He has been on the UFC roster since 2017 but has never fought more than two times in calendar year.

“He’s a great fighter, he fought some great guys and he took so many shots, many guys they would not take so many shots.”

The 28 year old is just happy to have been able to extend his winning streak. He has been moving further and further up the fight cards and knows that getting the finish will endear him to the UFC decision makers,

“A win is a win (but) if I get the finish, if I get the submission, the knockout it feels great. The UFC likes that.”

These days the 28 year old is based in Morocco and afterwards he called for the UFC to put on an event there. But at the moment Palestine seems to be the country on Haparast’s mind.
