ONE Championship will not be putting on any events in May. Chatri Sityodtong announced on Facebook this afternoon that the events which were booked for Singapore and the Philippines would not be going ahead.

ONE Championship had hoped to put on a series of behind closed doors events in Singapore during April and May. However the coronavirus, or Covid-19, situation in the country subsequently deteriorated.

As a result those cards have been postponed as well as ONE: ‘Infinity’ which was set for Manila on May 31st. That event had been set to feature Brandon Vera, Eddie Alvarez and Christian Lee.

Cambodia hosted a televized Kun Khmer card yesterday. Meanwhile Road to ONE 2, promoted by Shooto, took place in Tokyo ten days ago.

Pancrase 315 is also booked for Tokyo on May 31st. So there are still a handful of combat sport events taking place in territories across Asia.

The issue for ONE Championship is that the majority of staff are based in Singapore, which has tight border restrictions in place. Meanwhile the roster consists of fighters from countries all over the planet.

The next event on the schedule is ONE: ‘Battle for the Ages’ which is booked for Jakarta on June 5th. With Chatri’s team working ‘around the clock’ to find new dates and locations it seems likely there will be more changes to the calendar in the coming weeks.
