Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9 will face off in a Muay Thai fight at ONE Friday Fights 34. The former will be putting his flyweight title on the line at Lumpinee Stadium.
Both men are champions with Rodtang currently holding the Muay Thai title and Superlek the kickboxing belt. The fight has been in the works for nearly a year and will be broadcast live on Channel 7 in Thailand.
It is bound to be a big draw for the Thai fans because Rodtang has won 14 fights out of 14 for ONE Championship, not including his mixed rules bout with Demetrious Johnson. But the promotion has never previously matched him with a Thai opponent.
Superlek has won seven fights in a row since dropping a contentious decision to Ilias Ennahachi in a flyweight kickboxing title fight. He comes into this contest on the back of an extremely impressive run of recent results.
Big audience
Superlek faced Tagir Khalilov in a Muay Thai fight at ONE Fight Night 12. He stopped the Russian in the second round.
Prior to that he stopped current Bangkok stadium star Nabil Anane with a body shot in the opening round at ONE Friday Fights 22. Superlek hasn’t lost a Muay Thai fight since 2019.
Rodtang stopped Edgar Tavares at ONE Fight Night 12. He admitted afterward that he had barely trained for that bout but faces a much tougher test against Superlek in a match that is bound to attract a big television audience in Thailand.
