Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Stamp Fairtex have clearly moved on from their acrimonious breakup. These days the former is happily married to fellow Muay Thai fighter Aida Looksaikongdin but he had some kind words for his ex girlfriend.

Rodtang believes that Stamp is a role model for young female fighters,

“Stamp’s success will inspire everyone because she will be a role model for them to achieve success like her. I think MMA will be more popular in Thailand because of her.”

Brief romance

Rodtang and Stamp got together in 2019. They were both in Tokyo for ONE: ‘A New Era’, the cherry blossom was in full effect and one thing led to another apparently.

It certainly sounds like a romantic scene with Stamp telling ONE FC.com,

“I went to watch him fight, and then we finally got to talk after his match. We were sitting under the sakura tree, and it was the time of year that the flowers were in bloom.”

But 16 months later the relationship was over. Their breakup made headline news in Thailand where they are both big stars winning titles with ONE Championship.

Role model

Next up for Stamp is an interim atomweight title fight with Seo Hee Ham at ONE Fight Night 14. She has already won titles with the promotion in kickboxing and Muay Thai and will be looking to add an MMA belt to the collection.

Rodtang thinks his ex girlfriend could inspire women all around the world to become mixed martial artists,

“If Stamp becomes an MMA champion, she will be the best role model for our next generation. And she will be a good example for everyone who wants to succeed in MMA like her. She may even inspire women around the world to practice martial arts.”

Rumour has it that the two had a major falling out in 2020. But it seems like time has healed that particular wound and Rodtang sounds very supportive of Stamp.

Rodtang has a huge fight of his own coming up as he faces Superlek at ONE Friday Fights 34 next week. But it sounds like he will be cheering for Stamp on September 29th even if he isn’t sure that his former partner will have her hand raised,

“For the Stamp vs. Ham Seo Hee matchup, I give them each 50-50 odds.”
