Shamil Gasanov and Oh Ho-Taek went the distance at ONE Fight Night 18. Their bantamweight fight headlined the event at Lumpinee Stadium and it was the Russian who got the better of it.
Gasanov looked to take Taek down early in the opening round. The Russian was relentless and constantly looking to take his opponent’s back but the Korean was clearly well prepared.
He was repeatedly able to escape and reverse the position which made for some entertaining scrambles. Gasanov couldn’t control the fight but he did force Taek to spend almost three rounds defending.
It’s a whole different game 🦵💥

Winning ways
In both the second and third rounds Gasanov came close with rear naked choke attempts but Taek was able to peel his fingers away and slip out. The Korean actually scored a takedown of his own at the end of the fight but by then the result was a foregone conclusion.
Gafurov got back to winning ways after the first loss of his career and improves to 14-1. The #4 ranked Russian moves a step closer to title contention while Taek drops to 9-4-1 and is heading in the opposite direction.
Sweet escape 🥋
