Mongolian featherweight Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg will be making the step up from the studio to the stadium. He’s signed a contract with ONE Championship on the back of a series of impressive performances on ONE Warrior Series.
At OWS 6 last weekend Zoltsetseg improved his record to 5-2 with a first round stoppage win over Hyunjin Lee. It was his fourth victory on the Rich Franklin fronted series, with three of them coming inside the distance.
Zoltsetseg will be looking to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Jadambaa Narantungalag. He is the only Mongolian to ever win a ONE Championship title, holding the featherweight belt from 2014 to 2015.
Several OWS veterans have already been awarded ONE Championship contracts. They include Kimihiro Eto and Dae Sung Park who are booked to rematch at ONE: ‘Masters of Destiny’ in Kuala Lumpur next month.
Mark Abelardo, the only man to beat Zoltsetseg in a OWS fight, is also on the ONE Championship roster. He scored a surprise win over Daiki Takenaka at ONE: ‘Clash of Legends’ but the bantamweight’s title hopes dashed by a loss to Shoko Sato at ONE: ‘Warriors of Light’.
