The bantamweight bout between Song Yadong and Petr Yan will finally be taking place on March 9th. It has been rebooked for UFC 299 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Yadong was originally supposed to face Yan at UFC Vegas 83. The Russian withdrew from that due to injury and afterwards the Chinese fighter made it clear he hoped the fight would happen in March.

Yadong’s wish was quickly granted. He is coming off a hard fought decision win over Chris Gutierrez at UFC Vegas 83, which had originally been booked for Shanghai.

Yadong (21-7-1-1) moved up to #7 in the bantamweight rankings after that victory. Meanwhile Yan sits at #5 meaning that the winner will be right in the title mix.

Yan (16-5) is the former UFC bantamweight champion but has lost four out of his last five fights. The Russian is in desperate need of a win and will be looking to get his career back on track by beating Yadong in Miami.
