Soo Chul Kim got back in the win column in stunning fashion in the main event at Road FC 64, His bantamweight Grand Prix quarter final bout with Aleksey Indenko headlined the card at the Wonju Gymnasium and the 31 year old won by first round submission.

The Korean came into the fight on the back of a split decision loss to former Bellator champion Juan Archuleta at Bellator x Rizin 1 last year. Indenko was also coming off a loss having dropped a split to Evgeny Bondarev at IPFC 7 in May.

The veteran attacked the lead leg from the outset but the Russian checked and prevented the initial takedown attempt before getting swept to the canvas. Kim pounced straight for the guillotine and Indenko was in trouble.

Locking in

With the pair back on their feet, the featherweight champ enhanced the attack with a a pair of knees to the visitor’s head before locking the submission in tighter and bringing the fight back to the ground. Kim looked cool and collected as the referee crouched down for a closer look.

Kim had the head and right arm locked in. Indenko tried to stand back up but it was futile as the 31-year-old brought him back down with a vice-like guillotine to wrap up the win and extend his record to 19-7-1.

This was the seventh submission victory of his career and he was immediately brought to tears after getting the tap as he advanced to the semis. Indenko was outclassed overall and drops to 8-5.
