It sounds like ONE Championship has something big in the pipeline for June. The atomweight title fight between Stamp Fairtex and Denice Zamboanga has already been booked for this card.

That bout was originally set to take place at ONE 166 next week. In an official statement confirming the postponement the promotion hinted at something big happening in June,

β€œStamp vs. Zamboanga will move to a June tentpole event to take part in the start of an original docuseries production. More details on this production will be announced in the future.”

Long wait

Having already waited five years to challenge for the title Zamboanga probably won’t mind having it delayed by a few more months. She was promised a shot at Angela Lee in 2019 but that was nixed when the champion became pregnant.

The two trained together at Fairtex and were friends. Zamboanga left the camp when both fighters were booked for the atomweight Grand Prix.

Stamp (11-2) ended up winning that tournament while Zamboanga was controversially eliminated by Seo Hee Ham. The Thai would go on to defeat the Korean to win the vacant title.

Zamboanga (10-2) is coming off back to back wins. She saw her title ambitions derailed by consecutive losses to Seo Hee Ham, the first of which was extremely controversial.

Original docuseries

It sounds like the cameras will be following Stamp and Zamboanga closely as they prepare for this title fight. The Thai will be based at Fairtex in Pattaya as always while the Filipino has used several gyms in Manila.

With Stamp and Zamboanga having been close friends in the past the narrative could be very interesting. That friendship appears to be over and they are set to fight for the atomweight title in June.
