Stamp Fairtex is the new ONE Championship atomweight champion. She finished Seo Hee Ham with body shots in the third round to become just the second fighter to ever hold this title.

Moments before the ONE Fight Night 14 main event Angela Lee had announced her retirement. It meant that a fight billed as being for the interim belt would have the actual title at stake.

The fight started very slowly with both reluctant to engage. Ham was pawing with the jab and circling away from Stamp’s trademark right kick with both fighters warned for inactivity midway through the opening round.

Towards the end of the round Stamp started to find her range with the right body kicks while Ham sneaked a left hand in. The Korean made a slow start to the second stanza too and started to eat kicks to the midsection with more frequency.

Undisputed champion

Stamp was stepping up the pace and firing hard kicks to her opponent’s left arm and midsection when Ham dropped her with a straight left. The Thai was on her back for the first time but immediately threatened with submissions and seemed on the verge of securing an armbar when the bell sounded.

Stamp’s confidence must have been sky high after the near submission and it didn’t taker her long to put Ham away in the third round. The former Rizin and Road FC atomweight champion was wincing in pain after a right hand to the midsection.

It is questionable whether the UFC veteran would have been able to recover but Stamp didn’t wait around to find out. She immediately attacked with knees and punches to the stomach causing Ham to drop to the canvass and the referee to call off the fight.

The finish came at the 1:04 mark and saw Stamp crowned as the undisputed atomweight champion. She improves to 11-2 while Ham drops to 26-9 and sees her nine fight post UFC winning streak snapped.

Best of the rest

Earlier in the evening Eduard Folayang knocked out Amir Khan. The former lightweight champion rolled back the clock to finish the Singaporean in the third round, taking his record to 23-13 while his opponent drops to 14-10.

Things didn’t go so well for Folayang’s former teammate Stephen Loman (17-3) who dropped a decision to John Lineker (37-10-0-1) in their bantamweight bout. It was a close fight but the Brazilian consistently stuffed his takedowns and landed some hard body shots.
