Superbon Banchamek has withdrawn from ONE on Prime Video 2 due to illness. The Thai fighter had been set to defend his featherweight title against Tayfun Ozcan tomorrow morning (local time) in Singapore.

Superbon was absent from the press conference during the week and did not appear at the weigh ins yesterday. Apparently he is suffering from illness and will be unable to fight this weekend.

As a result the card has been reshuffled with Marat Grigorian now set to take on Tayfun Ozcan in a featherweight kickboxing fight. It is a match that had already been scrapped once, but both fighter’s saw their replacement opponents withdraw at late notice.

Title rematch

As previously announced atomweight champion Angela Lee will be challenging for the strawweight title for the second time on September 30th. The Hawaiian takes on Xiong Jing Nan in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 2.

Seo Hee Ham had been expected to challenge Lee for her atomweight belt. But instead she will be moving up in weight to take on Xiong in a trilogy bout that will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime:

Previous encounters

The two previous encounters between Lee and Xiong have both taken place in Tokyo. But this bout is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium in a show that is set for Saturday morning (local time).

The first fight at ONE: ‘A New Era’ was for Xiong’s strawweight title. The Chinese fighter stopped Lee with a body shot in the fifth round, handing her the first loss of her entire career.

The rematch took place at ONE: ‘Century’ and was for Lee’s atomweight belt. This time it was the Hawaiian who would claim a fifth round victory, submitting Xiong with seconds remaining in the fight.

Top contender

Anissa Meksen will have another chance to underline her title credentials at ONE on Prime Video 2. She has been matched with promotional newcomer Daokongfah Banchamek in an atomweight Muay Thai fight.

Meksen will be looking for her third straight ONE Championship win. She has won two out of two so far, competing in both kickboxing and Muay Thai.

The current Muay Thai champion is Allycia Rodrigues but she has been out of action for nearly two years after becoming a mother for the first time. Meksen’s opponent does have a win over the reigning champion though.

In 2020 Daokongfah beat Rodrigues by decision to claim the Thailand 118lbs title. She fights out of Buakaw’s camp and will be making her ONE Championship debut.

Top atomweights

Meanwhile Two of ONE Championship’s top atomweights will face off at ONE on Prime Video 2. Stamp Fairtex has been booked to face Jihin Radzuan at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 30th.

Both fighters have identical records. Stamp is currently ranked #1 while Radzuan is #5 so the winner could find themselves in pole position for a shot at the atomweight title.

Submission grappling

Mikey Musumeci  and Cleber Sousa will have the opportunity to become ONE Championship’s first ever submission grappling champion. The two flyweights will go head to head on September 30th with the inaugural flyweight strap on the line.

Musumeci has already made his ONE Championship debut. He made quick work of MMA veteran Masakuzi Imanari in a catchweight contest, submitting him with a rear naked choke in the opening round.

Sousa will be making his promotional debut but he already holds a win over Musumeci. They faced off twice in 2007 and shared a victory apiece with neither man able to secure the submission.

New addition

A featherweight fight between Ryogo Takahashi and Oh Ho Taek has also been added to the ONE on Prime Video 2 card. The Japanese fighter Takahashi  has lost three fights out of his last four since while Taek comes into his ONE Championship debut on the back of a six fight winning streak.
