Tatsuro Taira will be back in action on June 24th although we don’t know where. We do know who the undefeated Japanese flyweight will be facing though, he has been matched with Kleydson Rodrigues.

A spot in the top 15 is surely on the line for both fighters with Taira and Rodrigues currently unranked. The Brazilian came to prominence through Dana White’s Contender Series and has a win and a loss from his two UFC outings.

Having lost on his debut the 27 year old really showed what he is capable of at UFC 284. He stopped fellow Dana White’s Contender Series alumni Shannon Ross in under a minute.

Lucrative year

Losing is not a feeling Taira (13-0) is familiar with. He was the reigning Shooto flyweight champion when he signed with the UFC and has won three out of three inside the octagon.

Taira made his UFC debut less than a year ago, earning a decision win over Carlos Candelario. That was a solid enough performance from the 23 year old but his next two wins were spectacular.

At UFC Vegas 62 he submitted CJ Vergara with a second round armbar and was handed a $50,000 USD performance bonus for his efforts. He would repeat the feat just three month’s later.

At UFC Vegas 67 last month he faced Jesus Aguilar. Taira won with a triangle armbar in the second round and was awarded another $50,000 USD performance bonus to cap off what must have been a lucrative year.

To be confirmed

This is the only fight to be confirmed for June 24th and we still don’t know what the event’s venue will be or where it will be broadcast. Taira’s management team went ahead and announced the date and opponent without giving any further details.
