Pancrase 308 is set for Studio Coast on September 29th. The event will feature the semi finals of a strawweight tournament, which will eventually crown a new champion.
Reigning Strawweight Queen of Pancrase Viviane Araujo has now signed with the UFC. Four fighters will compete for the vacant belt with Emi Fujino facing Nori Date in a semi final next month.
Fujino (23-11-0-1) is coming off a decision win at Pancrase 304. She has challenged unsuccessfully for titles with numerous promotions and the 38 year old will be desperate to win the tournament and the belt.
Date (3-3) hasn’t competed in MMA for nearly three years. This is a rematch, the two first fought at Deep-Jewels 10 in 2015 with Fujino claiming a decision win.
Two other bouts are confirmed for the card. In the flyweight division Toru Ogawa (11-7) takes on Riley Dutro (13-5), the former dropped a decision on his promotional debut at Pancrase 303.
Meanwhile two Japanese strawweights will go head to head. Takafumi Ato (9-9) will have a significant advantage in terms of experience when he takes on the undefeated Yusenohama (2-0).
