Tiffany Teo forced to withdraw from ONE: ‘Edge of Greatness’
Tiffany Teo had expected to face Maira Mazar in a flyweight fight at ONE: ‘Edge of Greatness’. But instead of competing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 22nd the former title challenger will be recovering from eye surgery.
Teo announced on Facebook that she is having an eye operation on November 15th:
Teo is coming off a hard fought decision win over Michelle Nicolini at ONE: ‘Heart of the Lion’ last year. The Singaporean would have been looking to score her second straight win against a Brazilian opponent.
With retina tears in both eyes Teo looks set to put her competitive career on the backburner for the time being. It leaves Marza, who fights out of Evolve MMA in Singapore, without an opponent.
Whether ONE Championship can manage to find a replacement for Teo remains to be seen. But the card will feature a Muay Thai title fight with Nong-O Gaiyanghadao making the third defence of his bantamweight title against compatriot Saemapetch Fairtex in the main event.
The event also features a lightweight bout between Ev Ting and Amir Khan while Colbey Northcutt will be making her ONE Championship debut in Singapore. She has been matched with Putri Padmi in a flyweight bout on November 22nd.
Other significant bouts on the card include a bantamweight fight pitting Bruno Pucci against Shuya Kamikubo.
