Tofiq Musaev has his first fight booked since leaving Rizin. He is booked to face Zach Zane at Bellator 278 in Hawaii on April 22nd.
Musaev won the Rizin lightweight Grand Prix in 2019. He did not get to fight at all the following year as Covid-19 restrictions made it difficult for the Japanese promotion to fly in foreign fighters.
Last year he finally returned at Rizin 28 and was given the opportunity to challenge for the lightweight title. But he was submitted by Roberto de Souza in the opening round and subsequently parted ways with the promotion.
Zane (15-11) hails from Hawaii but is coming off back to back defeats. He also won at Bellator 236 in Honolulu and is sure to have the hometown crowd behind him.
In the main event Juliana Velasquez (12-0) defends her flyweight title against UFC veteran Liz Carmouche (16-7). ONE Championship veteran Dante Schiro (8-3) is also on the card, he has been matched with Hawaii’s own Scotty Hao (5-3) in a welterweight fight.
