Tonon, Rodtang set for ONE: ‘A New Era’
Four more fights have been added to the ONE: ‘A New Era’ card with Garry Tonon and Rodtang Jitmuangnon both set to see action in Tokyo on March 31st. The former faces Anthony Engelen while the latter has been matched with Hakim Hamech.
Tonon (3-0) is a multiple time No Gi grappling world champion and a BJJ black belt. He has won three fights out of three under the ONE Championship banner and will be looking to make it four in a row against the Indonesia based Dutchman Engelen (8-5).
Rodtang has emerged as a star in the ONE Super Series. The Thai fighter has fought numerous times in Japan and takes on Hamech who is coming off an impressive KO win in Shanghai.
Hiroki Akimoto is a multiple time Karate world champion who traded knockdowns with Josh Tonna in his ONE Super Series debut last month. The Japanese fighter takes on Joseph Lasiri who has lost four fights out of four for the promotion.
In MMA action Yoon Chang Min (0-2) will be looking for the first win of his pro career against India’s Bala Shetty (0-2). The Korean went 4-0 fighting in Road FC’s amateur league and makes his ONE Championship debut in Tokyo.
In total there are four title fights set for the March 31st event at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. Eduard Folayang defends his lightweight title against Shinya Aoki in the main event.
Meanwhile Angela Lee challenges Xiong Jing Nan for the strawweight title, Aung La Nsang defends his middleweight belt against Ken Hasegawa in a rematch and Kevin Belingon puts his bantamweight strap on the line against Bibiano Fernandes in a trilogy title bout.
