Urijah Faber has taken to Twitter to explain why Sage Northcutt is not on the ONE: ‘X’ card. The photogenic UFC veteran has only appeared at one of the promotion’s events and it did not go well.
Faber, who coaches Northcutt at Team Alpha Male, explained that Covid-19 restrictions prevented his fighter’s family and team from traveling to Singapore:
In Sage’s last fight he was in a very scary place physically from his injury, and in a foreign country. Without a strong support system with him, his care and recovery could have been very different. Hoping he can compete soon 👊🏽

Northcutt was knocked out in the opening round by Cosmo Alexandre at ONE: ‘Enter the Dragon’. He suffered no fewer than eight facial fractures during this devastating defeat.
Faber explained that Northcutt was in a ‘scary place’ after his last fight and did not want to risk traveling to Singapore without his full support network. The country has strict travel regulations requiring most visitors to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Northcutt has not fought since 2019. He has been busy recovering from those facial fractures as well as contracting Covid-19 and getting married.
It sounds like the American is ready to return to action but is reluctant to travel to Singapore for the reasons outlined by Faber. It has been nearly three years since his last fight and we all hope Northcutt can compete soon!
