Shooto 0516 is set for the Korakuen Hall on May 16th. Eight fights were announced today with teenage star Yamato Nishikawa set to face Nobumitsu Osawa in the main event.

Nishikawa (13-3-5) celebrated his 18th birthday last December. The teenager won four fights out of four for Shooto in 2020 and would be in pole position for a lightweight title shot if he could secure a fifth straight victory for the promotion.

Osawa (13-5) is a former Shooto lightweight champion. He has won four out of his last five with the only loss during this period coming at the hands of Tofiq Musaev at Rizin 14.

Former flyweight King of Pancrase Kiyotaka Shimizu (24-14-3) has been matched with Yuto Uda (4-0-1), an undefeated prospect who was extremely successful in the amateur ranks. A bantamweight bout between Hayato Ishii (16-3-2) and Yasuyuki Nojiri (5-0-1) is also on the card.

Meanwhile Megumi Sugimoto (5-3) has been handed a very winnable looking fight as she looks to snap her two fight losing streak. The former Shooto super atomweight title challenger takes on the winless 42 year old Mikiko Hiyama (0-6) in a catchweight contest set for 110lbs.
