The smaller gloves definitely make for more knockouts in Muay Thai but that’s typically due to the combination of more powerful punches and a smaller surface to block them with. At ONE Friday Fights 59 we saw a very different type of finish as Yamin PKSaenchaigym appeared to break Joachim Ouraghi’s finger with a kick.
The first round was just 30 seconds old when the Thai southpaw attempted a left kick to his opponent’s head. It was blocked but Ouraghi immediately signalled that there was an issue with his left hand.
The referee paused the fight while the doctor took a look and he immediately called it off. It appears that Ouraghi suffered a serious finger injury, meaning that Yamin walked away with a slightly unusual first round KO win and a $10,00 USD performance bonus.

Head kick
Also walking away from Lumpinee Stadium with a $10,000USD bonus was Pettasuea Seeopal. His finish wasn’t quite as fast as Yamin’s but it was more dramatic as he knocked out Prom Yor Andaman late in the second round.
Prom was looking to make a strong finish to the round by walking Pettasuea down. He walked straight into a right high kick from very close range which put him down with the referee deciding he was not in a fit state to continue.

Body shots
Making use of the smaller gloves in a more conventional way was Yodkitti FiatPathumThani. He ripped hooks to the body of Luapong Kaewsamrit right from the opening bell.
The punches found their mark and folded Luapong. Yodkitti needed just 25 seconds to finish the fight and was rewarded with a $10,000 USD bonus.
