Chinese kickboxer Zhang Peimian has been added to the ONE Friday Fights 58 card. He faces Aliff Sor Dechapan in a strawweight bout at Lumpinee Stadium next week.

Peimian won a Road to ONE tournament in 2021 to earn a multi fight contract with the promotion. The 20 year old won his first two fights and was awarded a shot at the vacant strawweight title.

He came up short against Jonathan Di Bella, who will be defending that belt for the second time in the ONE Friday Fights 58 co-main event. Since then the Chinese fighter has won one and lost one.

Brightest prospects

His opponent is also 20 years old making this a clash between two of the brightest young prospects in the division. Aliff hails from Malaysia but is based in Bangkok and will be competing under kickboxing rules for the first time.

The Malaysian has won four fights out of four on ONE Championship’s weekly events at Lumpinee Stadium. A fifth victory would potentially earn him a multi fight contract and the opportunity to compete on the Saturday morning cards.

Famous footballer

Meanwhile the son of a famous footballer will also feature at this event which will be streamed live on YouTube in Hong Kong. Gavin Peacock was a prolific midfielder who made over 200 appearances for Newcastle United and Chelsea.

Despite coming from a famous footballing family his son, Jake Peacock, has chosen a very different sporting route. He will be competing in Muay Thai at ONE Friday Fights 58 next week and has been matched with Japanese bantamweight Kohei Shinjo.

Peacock has a long way to go to replicate the success of his father who scored 107 goals during his 17 year career as a professional football. But he has been able to make his name as a Muay Thai fighter despite being born with just one hand.

Main event

In the main event Superbon Singha Mawyn faces Marat Grigorian for the third time. They share a win each from the two previous meetings and this fight has the interim featherweight kickboxing title on the line.

In the co-main event Di Bella is defending his strawweight kickboxing title against Prajanchai PKSaenchaigym. The Thai currently holds the Muay Thai belt and won four fights out of four in 2023.

Former bantamweight Muay Thai champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is also on this card, he will be hoping to snap his two fight losing streak when he faces compatriot Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek U-Thai.
