Allycia Rodrigues has shared a video of herself hitting pads at Phuket Fight Club and the ONE Championship atomweight Muay Thai champion is looking sharp. She is back in business after taking time out to have her first child.

Rodriguez was booked to take on Janet Todd at ONE Fight Night 5 but that bout was postponed at the very last minute after interim champion Janet Todd tested positive for Covid-19. It hasn’t officially been rescheduled but it looks like the Brazilian might be training for a fight:

Upcoming card

Rodriguez has still only ever fought once for ONE Championship. In 2019 she beat Stamp Fairtex in front of the fans at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.

Back then Stamp was better known as a Muay Thai fighter than a mixed martial artist. She would not return to stand up fighting until her last minute kickboxing bout with Supergirl Jaroonsakgym at ONE Fight Night 6 last weekend.

Rodriguez’ reign as atomweight champion has lasted three years but has yet to feature a single title defence. But the bout with Todd will surely be rebooked for an upcoming ONE Championship card.

Old video

It seems that Rodriguez might have been watching Stamp’s fight with Wondergirl last weekend. She posted a video of herself tagging the former atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai champion with a right hand.

The sight of Stamp receiving a $50,000 USD bonus for beating Wondergirl seemingly inspired the Brazilian to share this old footage. She has been back in Phuket for six months and is clearly in shape and ready to defend her title.

She failed the hydration tests ahead of ONE Fight Night 5. Despite Todd being unable to compete Rodriguez was required to pass all the checks in order to receive her full purse.

She tipped the scales at 113.5lbs, comfortably under the atomweight limit. But her hydration tests came in at 1.0303 which is above the maximum level permitted.

It seems Rodriguez might have only been making weight in case another fighter pulled out at the last minute. So it’s possible she would have passed all the checks if she had actually been fighting.

But the Brazilian has been given some extra time to ensure she is on weight and well hydrated ahead of her next fight. Rodriguez is clearly raring to go and is training hard ahead of her long awaited comeback.
