Angela Lee will be flying in to Singapore next month to make a ‘big announcement’. It seems that the reigning ONE Championship atomweight queen has come to a decision regarding her future.
Chatri Sityodtong broke the news to BJPenn.com yesterday. The ONE Championship CEO discussed a number of topics but the headline news was that Lee would be addressing the media in Singapore next month,
Angela will be making an announcement on September 1st regarding her career. She will be flying to Singapore for the atomweight title fight and making another big statement and doing an open Q&A live during that event.

Everything answered
The interim atomweight title is on the line when Seo Hee Ham faces Stamp Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 14. That event is set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 29th.
With Lee making an announcement on September 1st it seems that the situation should be clearer by the time Ham and Stamp step into the cage. She could be flying in to Singapore to watch her next opponent in person, or to see a successor bestowed with the crown she has decided to abdicate.
Chatri wasn’t giving any clues. He did omit the word ‘interim’ when discussing the title but this could have been an oversight and the ONE Championship head honcho made it clear that fans would have to wait until September 1st to find out more,

Heartbreaking loss
Chatri was asked about the death of Victoria Lee. The undefeated atomweight star died suddenly at the age of 18 and neither Angela Lee nor Christian Lee has fought since.
BJ Penn, who made an appearance on the show, also hails from Hawaii and Chatri discussed Victoria’s death,
It was heartbreaking. The Lee family has always been very tight knit, very close.
Earlier this year Chatri announced that Christian Lee is set to return to the cage. He holds the ONE Championship lightweight and welterweight titles and definitely wouldn’t be retiring.
Chatri has previously stated that he expects Angela Lee to retire but says he hasn’t discussed potential opponents or fights with either of them,
We haven’t really talked work at all. I’ve been to Hawaii to visit Vitoria’s final resting place and spent some time with her parents. The best thing we can do for the Lee family is to support them with our love and prayers.
Fans will be wondering whether Angela Lee has had a change of heart and decided to continue fighting. It is equally possible she is just waiting to make her retirement official but it sounds like all will be revealed on September 1st.
