Julie Mezabarba has signed with ONE Championship. The Brazilian revealed on her Instagram account that she was now on the promotion’s atomweight roster.

Mezabarba holds a record of 8-2-1 and has been fighting since 2014, although she did take a three year hiatus from the sport.  She is riding a five fight winning streak and has not lost a bout in nearly three years.

There is a spot open on the upcoming atomweight Grand Prix with Ritu Phogat having been withdrawn. The Indian was beaten by Bi Nguyen at ONE: ‘Dangal’ recently.

That leaves Meng Bo without an opponent and the promotion has yet to announce a replacement for Phogat. The tournament gets underway at ONE: ‘Empower’ on May 28th.

Even if Mezabarba misses out on the tournament there are no shortage of potential opponents for the Brazilian. Jihin Radzuan, Mei Yamaguchi and Nguyen are among the atomweights who were overlooked while Phogat will also be looking to keep busy while the the Grand Prix is underway.
