Carla Esparza says: ‘may the best woman win’
Carla Esparza would be within her rights to be upset about being overlooked for a strawweight title shot. The #3 ranked strawweight was considered by many to be the top contender.
But she is happy to let Weili Zhang and Rose Namajunas fight again and said in an Instagram post ‘may the best woman win’:

Esparza has won five fights in a row. She is coming off a second round stoppage win over Xiaonan Yan at UFC Vegas 27. Under the circumstances a lot of fighters would have been very unhappy about being made to wait for a title shot.
But the American is looking on the bright side and believes her time to come. Zhang and Namajunas are set to rematch at UFC 268 and, when the best woman wins, Esparza will be waiting patiently for a shot at her.
