Carlo Bumina-ang won again at Lumpinee Stadium tonight but Denis Andreev pushed him all the way in their bantamweight bout. The fight was almost too close to call but the Filipino edged it with a split decision win.
Bumina-ang made a very strong start. He charged forwards throwing multiple punches and was able to trap Andreev in the corner and take him down although he ate a knee in the process.
Andreev would spend the remainder of the round on his back. Bumina-ang softened him up with some ground and pound and came close with a rear naked choke end towards the end of the round, moving into mount just before the bell sounded.
At the start of the second round Andreev landed a step in knee to the midsection. He would score with this strike regularly as the Filipino southpaw was forced to engage in striking match.

Close contest
Andreev got the better of if and Bumina-ang was frustrated in his attempts to take the fight down. It meant the momentum was with the Russian heading into the final round even if the best moments in the fight had belonged to his opponent.
Andreev glanced a kick off his opponent’s head at the start of the third. He followed up with a knee but ate a right hand and was taken down with plenty of time remaining in the round.
This time Andreev managed to work his way back up and they traded punches. A spinning back fist from Bumina-ang seemed to stun the Russian who surprisingly shot for a takedown himself.’
Bumina-ang easily brushed the attempt off and they traded punches towards the end of the round. Andreev stepped in for one of his trademark knees but this time the Filipino countered with a left hand.
It was a close contest but two of the judges called it in favour of Bumina-ang who improves to 3-0. Andreev drops to 1-1 despite putting in an impressive display of striking.
Best of the rest
