The weekly ONE Championship cards at Lumpinee Stadium consist mainly of Muay Thai fights. But one Filipino mixed martial artist has really made a name for himself at these events and will have another opportunity on Friday.
Carlos Alvarez will be back in action at ONE Friday Fights 36. The Filipino has been matched with Thai/French featherweight Phruethukorn Chaichongcharden at Lumpinee Stadium this Friday.
Alvarez (3-0) is coming off a stoppage win over Sadegh Ghasemi at ONE Friday Fights 25. He only made his pro debut last December and looks to be the latest in a long line of prospects produced by Team Lakay.
But the Filipino has been handed the most difficult assignment of his career to date. He faces a Thai/French featherweight who has already been in with one big names.
Last year he faced former Glory welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe. Chaichongcharden (3-1) made it through the first two rounds but did not come out for the third.

Best of the rest
The other MMA fight on the card is in the flyweight division. Russian Zayundin Suleymanov (5-0) takes on Kazakhstan’s Adilet Mamytov (6-0) in a battle between two previously undefeated Europeans.
In the main event former Lumpinee welterweight champion Rafi Bohic will be taking on Antar Kacem in a bantamweight bout. The Belarusian has fought Yodphupha Wimanair twice this year and knocked him out in the rematch.
There will also be a catchweight contest pitting Superball Teeded99 against Julio Lobo. The former previously held the Thailand super bantamweight belt while the latter was Siam Omnoi welterweight champion.
