Floyd Mayweather has been preparing for Sunday’s exhibition bout with Mikuru Asakura by going on an extravagant shopping spree. The 45 year old shared a video of him counting cash at a Louis Vuitton store in Tokyo.

Mayweather seems more focused on spending the money he will earn for his exhibition bout at Super Rizin than actually training for it:

Working out

Mayweather did take a break from his hectic shopping schedule to hit mitts with trainer Gerald Tucker. He has been helping train the boxer ever since the death of his uncle, Roger Mayweather.

His hand speed and head movement were on display for all to see. At the age of 45 the boxer is clearly a long way past his prime but doesn’t appear to have lost much in terms of speed and reflexes.

Not many young boxers would be able to perform these combinations but Mayweather makes them look easy:

Epic spree

This epic shopping spree also took in a Hermes store where Mayweather was apparently on the lookout for new bags. He also stopped by a shop selling diamond encrusted watches.

Mayweather recently announced he would be making ‘upwards of $15-20 million’ for this exhibition bout and seems to have already started spending the money. Ostentatious shows of wealth have been a feature of his for decades and Instagram has allowed the the 45 year old to share his shopping sprees with the world:

Fantastic shape

Mayweather also put on a public workout but didn’t seem to be making too much effort. He hit a bag in front of a small crowd of photographers but didn’t appear to be going full speed.

There was no sign of the multiple time world champion’s legendary hand speed as he threw slow combinations while barely moving his feet. But Mayweather still looks in fantastic shape and will surely put in a much slicker boxing display on Sunday:

Comparatively quiet

Meanwhile his opponent Mikuru Asakura has been comparatively quiet on social media. Perhaps he realizes that boxing against Mayweather will do wonders for his bank account but is unlikely to enhance his reputation.

Mayweather has a reputation for making seasoned boxers look like novices. So Asakura, who really is a novice when it comes to the sweet science, is surely going to struggle to make much of an impression on his debut.

The good news for Asakura is that Mayweather has promised fans he will try to make this bout, which is scheduled for three rounds, go the distance. So the mixed martial artist doesn’t have to worry about being knocked out in the opening round like Tenshin Nasukawa was.

But nine minutes can seem like a long time when you are spending it inside a ring with the best boxer of the century. It could be a long morning for Asakura but Mayweather has already started counting the cash he will earn.
