Turkish striking sensation Halil Amir will be back in action at ONE Fight Night 9. The undefeated lightweight has been matched with Maurice Abévi at Lumpinee Stadium on April 22nd.

Amir (8-0) knocked out Timofey Nastyukhin at ONE Fight Night 2. It was his promotional debut but the Turk already looks to be one of the most devastating strikers in the division.

In Bangkok he has been matched with promotional newcomer Maurice Abévi (6-0). The Swiss fighter has finished all six of his previous opponents inside the distance and will be appearing on a ONE Championship card for the first time.

Moving up

As previously announced Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is set to faces Jonathan Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9. The Englishman is the former flyweight Muay Thai champion but has been struggling to make weight.

Nong-O has been completely dominant in ONE Championship’s bantamweight division. He has won ten fights out of ten for the promotion and his last five victories have all come inside the distance.

In the main event of ONE Lumpinee 1 he stopped Alaverdi Ramazanov in the third round to successfully defend his bantamweight belt for the seventh time. Nong-O remains the only fighter to ever hold the title.

Long absence

Jhanlo Sangiao will be back in action at ONE Fight Night 9. The Filipino bantamweight returns from a year long absence to face Matias Farinelli in Manila on December 3rd.

Sangiao was still a teenager when he made his eagerly anticipated ONE Championship debut in 2021. He is the son of Team Lakay head coach and founder Mark Sangiao.

Farinelli only made his pro debut last February. He has won four fights out of four in this calendar year but none of his opponents had ever won a fight.

The fight was originally set for ONE 164 but Farinelli pulled out at the last minute. Sangiao ended up facing Anacleto Lauron instead and submitting the Filipino in the first round.

Sangiao is one of only a handful of ONE Championship fighters who have chosen to remain with Team Lakay with the likes of Eduard Folayang, Joshua Pacio, Kevin Belingon, Honorio Banario and Lito Adiwang all departing in recent weeks.

Atomweight fight

Julie Mezabarba has also  been added to the ONE Fight Night 9 card. She will be facing Denice Zamboanga in Bangkok on April 22nd.

Mezabarba is coming off back to back decision losses. She has been the distance in all three of her ONE Championship fights with the Brazilian’s sole win coming at the expense of Mei Yamaguchi.

Zamboanga is coming off a split decision win, just like her opponent. She beat Lin Heqin at ONE Fight Night 5 to get herself back in the title mix after back to back decision losses to Seo Hee Ham.
